General information
What is bonus data, and how does it work?
Bonus data is extra data you can earn through certain promotions we offer from time to time. Bonus data is automatically added to your account when you complete the tasks required to earn the data.
- Buy a new verizon wireless tablet and receive 1 GB of extra data
- Take a survey on a restaurant's website and get 50 MB of data
Bonus data is added to your account on top of your base monthly data allowance and is used before your base monthly allowance. If you're on a shared data plan and have bonus data remaining at the end of your bill cycle, it carries over to the next month as carryover data.
You're eligible for bonus data if you have:
- Shared data plan – 5GB
- Shared data plan – 10GB
- The new verizon plan shared data plan (e.G., S, M, L)*
- The verizon plan*
- The MORE everything® plan*
All lines on your account share bonus data, even though some mobile numbers on the account don't qualify for a promotion, offer or reward.
Note: bonus data can only be used for standard monthly data service. Prepaid accounts aren't eligible. Bonus data is for domestic data usage only. Bonus data has no cash value, isn't returnable or refundable and may not be exchanged or redeemed for cash. Bonus data isn't transferable and won't be prorated. If you get bonus data and cancel your account, the bonus doesn't carry over to your new plan and is forfeited.
*these plans are no longer available to add to your account.
What types of unused data make up carryover data on the new verizon plan?
The following types of unused data will make up your carryover data each month:
- Bonus data
- Monthly plan allowance
- Data gifts
- Data boost
- Unused overage (if safety mode isn't active)
How much bonus data can I add to my account?
You can have a maximum of 11 bonus data offers on your account in any given month. After you add 11 offers to your account, you won't be able to accept additional offers and they'll be forfeited. Which plans are eligible for bonus data?
Where can I see how much bonus data I have?
You can view your bonus data on your device with the new my verizon app or online in my verizon.
- The my verizon app: the data hub will show you how much bonus data you have available. If you don't have any available, the bonus data section won't appear.
- My verizon: go to the my usage page. If you have bonus data left, you'll see a bonus data section on the right side showing how much is available. If you don't have any available, the bonus data section won't appear.
Will I receive a usage alert when my bonus data is almost gone?
No, you won't receive usage alerts for bonus data. Usage alerts only apply to your base monthly data allowance.
How long does bonus data last?
The duration of bonus data can vary depending on the offer. Go to the my usage page in my verizon to see when your bonus data expires.
Do overage charges apply to bonus data?
No. Overage rates only apply to your plan monthly data allowance.
Can I use bonus data to cover already existing overages on my account?
No, bonus data is only applicable for future data usage and cannot be applied to accrued data charges or overages on your verizon wireless account. Adding bonus data will not prevent verizon from billing overages to your account.
I was supposed to get bonus data, but I'm not seeing it in my verizon. What should I do?
Only account owners and account managers can view the promotion details.
If you're an account owner and the bonus data offer was from verizon wireless, please click the chat with us button at the bottom right corner of this page to contact one of our representatives. If the offer was from another company, please contact that company's customer service department.

An explaination of hughesnet anytime and bonus data
Many people who have or are looking into getting hughesnet satellite internet are confused by the mention of “anytime data” and “bonus data” included in their monthly service plans. We will attempt to clarify that here for you as it’s important to consider the amount of “anytime data” and “bonus data” that is included in your monthly service plan in order to find out which plan is going to work the best for you. There are also differences between how the data is assigned on the hughesnet consumer and hughesnet business internet platforms, and that is also important to consider!
Since you’re on our site and we sell, service and support our own version of the hughesnet gen5 systems on our VAR platform that offer self-installation and portable use options, I’ll talk about that platform first! Our systems are on the “business internet” platform with hughes! Normally, for fixed installations, this platform is typically offered to business customers who use the system more during business hours (8am – 6pm or similar) than they do during the evening and early morning hours! We happen to use the “business internet” platform and mobile-enabled equipment on our VAR (value-added reseller) platform since we sell, service and support our own customers!
Our minimum monthly service plan is $89.99 per month and that plan includes 25gigs of data per month from 8am – 6pm CST, and 10gigs per month of data between 6pm – 8am CST for a total of 35gigs of full-speed data per month. If and when you go over that data… we don’t cut you off or bill you for overages, we just slow you down to around 2 – 3mbps speeds until your monthly service renews, until you upgrade your plan or choose to purchase additional full-speed data. On the bright side, even the slower speeds offered after you go over your full-speed data typically work fine for surfing and email, facebook, etc, and are usually still better and faster than many RV parks offer to their guests for basic internet access anyway!
For many of our customers who do more online in the evenings and earlier morning hours than they do during “business hours,” some of them have chosen our 50gig monthly service plan which gives them 25gigs from 8am – 6pm CST and 25gigs from 6pm – 8am CST since that plan is more balanced, but it’s also $119.99 per month, so most of our RV’ers stick with our $89.99 plan and do well, even if they do happen to go over their included full-speed data!
For those customers who do not need the ability to self-install, self-maintain or move their system around, the consumer platform might be a better solution if you will be using your system more often in the evening and early morning hours than you would use it throughout the day as the consumer plans provide more full-speed data in the evening and early morning than they do during business hours! Contact us to see if a hughesnet gen5 consumer system and service may be better for your needs and application!
I’ve included some links below for existing customers on our ISPSAT/hughesnet gen5 VAR platform, as well as for customers on the hughesnet consumer and hughesnet business internet platforms that should allow you to check your data, order additional full-speed data and more!

Freedom mobile offering free 10GB data bonus if you ask for it
Share & comment
Shaw’s freedom mobile appears to be handing out a free 10GB data bonus if you ask for it.
According to iphone in canada reader @heyimspike, he says freedom mobile is offering what is called the ‘promotional bonus 10GB freedom data’ add-on, if you contact them by phone, imessage, whatsapp or facebook messenger. We were able to confirm numerous others were also able to get this 10GB of free data added to all lines on their accounts.
Once the 10GB data promo is applied to your account, a confirmation text message is sent out, as seen above.
Again, if you’re looking to get 10GB of free data added to your account, it may be worth contacting freedom mobile to get it.
Freedom mobile recently launched iphone 12 and iphone 12 pro pre-orders, joining other wireless carriers in supporting the new iphone launch. It’s worth noting freedom mobile doesn’t have a 5G network yet, but that may not matter considering mmwave 5G isn’t even in canada yet.
Let us know if you’re successful in getting this 10GB data bonus from freedom.
Bonus data
Bonus data is a form of downloadable extra content for fossil fighters: champions, allowing players access to new vivosaurs, sidequests, characters, and more. Though nintendo wi-fi connection, the service originally required to obtain the bonus data, was terminated on may 20th, 2014 [1] , it is still possible to access the extra content through the use of fan-operated services.
Contents
Content accessible through bonus data
To access the bonus data, the player must first have unlocked the fossil cannon in story mode. Once the player has downloaded the data, fossil rocks, each with either a dino medal or an event-related key item attached, will appear on their fossil lawn. The player can collect them at any time.
Frigi and igno dino medals
Bonus data-exclusive vivosaurs frigi and igno were released in north america on december 25th, 2011. Each of their dino medals can be collected directly from fossil rocks on the fossil lawn.
"dragon" message card
The "dragon" message card was released in north america on january 1st, 2012. It can be collected from a fossil rock on the fossil lawn and grants the player access to three postgame sidequests (duna's due, raptin's rage, and dynal's debut), through which they can obtain the vivosaurs dinomaton, duna, raptin, and dynal.
"bone" message card
The "bone" message card was released in north america on january 16th, 2012. It can be collected from a fossil rock on the fossil lawn and grants the player access to two sidequests: ryne's request and ryne's challenge. Ryne's request can be completed as soon as the player obtains the message card, while ryne's challenge is only available in the postgame. Through these sidequests, the player can obtain the ryne mask, the favre and ryne icons, and the exclusive vivosaur salada.
"lake" message card
The "lake" message card was never officially distributed in north america. It can be collected from a fossil rock on the fossil lawn and grants the player access to an unused area of treasure lake via the fossil cannon. Fossils for treasure lake's rare vivosaurs can be found easily in this area.

Which bonus structure is best for your company?
According to research by payscale, the majority of organizations (73%) now provide some form of variable pay to their workforce in a bid to compensate valuable employees and motivate performance.
If you’re not already offering variable pay in the form of bonuses or you’re unsure which bonus structure is best suited to your situation, we’ve got some recommendations for you based on a survey of american employees.
We surveyed more than 200 full-time employees, asking multiple questions about how they’d prefer their bonus to be structured, and here’s what we found.
5 recommendations for structuring bonuses
- Tie bonuses to individual performance. Almost two-thirds of workers prefer a bonus tied to their individual performance over department/company bonuses or those not tied to performance at all. [read more]
- Get rid of hit-or-miss bonus targets. 75% of workers prefer to earn a percentage of their performance-based bonus for achieving a percentage of their goal (a tiered bonus) over earning only their full bonus if they hit their full goal. [read more]
- Ask employees what bonus payout timeline they prefer. The results were almost evenly split between 12 monthly bonuses (53%) and one annual bonus (47%), assuming they total the same amount. [read more]
- Consider spot bonuses for special effort. 64% of workers prefer spot bonuses over other one-time bonuses like signing bonuses, employee referral bonuses, or retention bonuses. [read more]
- Utilize software to manage your bonus structure. Creating an effective bonus structure requires effort from multiple departments throughout the year, software can help you keep tabs of the process. [read more]
Tie bonuses to individual performance
When structuring recurring, performance-based bonuses, businesses generally have three options to consider:
- Bonuses based on individual performance.
- Bonuses based on department or company performance.
- Bonuses not based on performance at all (e.G., a flat bonus for everyone).
When we asked workers which option they prefer, the favorite is clear: 65% prefer a bonus tied to their individual performance over a bonus based on group performance, or not tied to performance at all.
From an employee perspective, there are pros and cons to each option. A bonus not based on performance is guaranteed, but because there’s no performance incentive involved, the payout is often relatively small. It’s a no-risk, low-reward option.
On the other hand, bonuses based on individual performance can be incredibly lucrative—assuming workers can meet often-rigorous performance goals. It’s high-risk, high-reward.
Paying out a substantial year-end bonus to every employee in your business can certainly make headlines, but if employees expect to get the same bonus regardless of their performance, there’s little incentive to be more productive. In fact, it could even serve as a negative incentive, encouraging workers to do only the bare minimum.
To promote motivation and retention among your best workers, awarding bonuses based on individual performance is best. This method involves the most work—but software can help:
- Performance management software can help organizations set goals and track employee performance against those goals in a digital environment.
- Compensation management software can align performance goals and compensation budgets to determine optimal payouts.
- Payroll software can ensure that correct amounts for bonuses end up in bank accounts, appropriate taxes are withheld and line items align accurately with the general ledger.
Get rid of hit-or-miss bonuses
Once you’re monitoring individual performance and doling out bonuses accordingly, you might be tempted to keep things “black or white” to make administration easier: if workers hit their target, they get their bonus. If they miss it, tough luck.
Beware though, this approach can backfire. Hit-or-miss bonuses have two negative effects:
- High performers with nothing else to work towards will call it a day after hitting their mark.
- Lower performers won’t even attempt to reach their goal if there’s a risk their efforts could all be for nothing (e.G., if a salesperson has an annual goal of 300 sales, why work harder and risk getting no reward for 299 sales?).
Employees don’t like it either: 75% of workers in our survey prefer tiered performance bonuses over “hit-or-miss” bonuses.
However, compared to the results of the same survey we ran in 2017, the preference for tiered bonuses has fallen by almost 10%.
Employees preferred bonus structure, 2017
Employees preferred bonus structure, 2019
Here’s the solution: set multiple performance goals for each employee, and reward them a percentage of their bonus for achieving a percentage of their goal. This way, you can promote continuous effort among your employees without seeming unfair. It’s a small consideration but one that’s often overlooked.
Ask employees what bonus payout timeline they prefer
Businesses don’t want to waste time considering how to schedule payouts for recurring bonuses. Generally, there are two options: pay your employees 12 smaller monthly bonuses or one large annual bonus.
Unlike the rest of our findings, the answer here is uncertain: assuming they total the same amount, 53% of workers prefer 12 monthly bonuses and 47% prefer one annual bonus.
When deciding what timeline to follow at your organization, the best action to take is to ask your employees what payout timeline they prefer through a random survey.
If results at your workplace are similarly split, you may have to consider other factors, such as type of industry or workplace. For example, it’s likely that all sales teams will need monthly bonuses rather than yearly ones because of the nature of the job.
Employees prefer spot bonuses for special effort
Besides recurring bonuses, one-time bonuses given out for specific actions can also motivate employees. These may include:
- Employee referral bonuses
- Retention bonuses during mergers and acquisitions or tumultuous periods
- Signing bonuses when accepting a job offer
- Spot bonuses to acknowledge special effort
We asked employees which of these one-time bonuses they’d prefer, if they could only be eligible for one. The result: 64% say they’d prefer a spot bonus for special effort.
Spot bonuses are often up to managers’ discretion and limited to small amounts ranging from $25 to $500, but they’re a great way to reward and acknowledge special effort by employees.
With a modern payroll system, managing spot-bonus budgets and allocation is simple. Many systems allow for ad hoc payroll amounts to be added to payroll runs: for example, if employee A gets a $37 spot bonus, you can add that amount to their paycheck manually.
Utilize software to manage your bonus structure
If there’s one trend that ties our findings together, it’s this: workers want their bonuses to be as closely tied to their performance and their impact on the business as possible.
Here are some key things to remember when designing your bonus structure:
- Creating an effective performance review process is priority number one.
- Meet employee preferences in the middle. Have employees fill out a random survey to get exact details on what types of bonuses would motivate them. Then determine how you measure success and what resources you have available. This will lead to a solution that satisfies management, HR, and employees alike.
- Integrate technology to maximize communication and automation. Awarding performance-based bonuses takes effort from multiple departments. By integrating payroll, performance review, and even accounting systems, you can create a seamless bonus process with fewer errors and duplicated entries.

AT&T mobile share plans get $10 price hike and 'bonus data'
A bonus is meant to be something you get extra for free, right?
If you subscribe to one of AT&T's mobile share plans, congratulations! AT&T has decided you deserve a bonus in the form of 15GB of extra data every month. There is a "but," however. The price you pay for the plan every month is increasing by $10.
As the verge reports, anyone subscribing to one of AT&T's mobile share plans will have an october 2019 bill that's $10 higher. Customers will obviously view this as a negative, but AT&T is treating it as a positive by automatically increasing the data allowance on each plan by 15GB. It's classing the increase as "bonus data" for you to enjoy while enduring the price increase. The new pricing breakdown and data allowances per plan are listed on AT&T's support website.
I suspect many subscribers won't be sending AT&T a thank you email or reflecting on how lucky they are to receive this bonus data. Instead, they'll more likely be wondering if switching to another network provider would bring them an even better bonus in the form of a price cut.
As comments on the verge have pointed out, calling AT&T to complain about the mandatory price hike and extra data you may not need can result in a price reduction through a change of plan. So if this price increase affects you, give AT&T a call and see if you can't save yourself some cash in the run up to the holidays.
This isn't the only price hike AT&T has introduced recently. Last month AT&T TV now prices increased by 30 percent even though the TV service is losing millions of customers. The cheapest subscription option is the TV now plus package, which costs $65 (it was $50). AT&T also introduced new "unlimited" data plans this month, but you'll have to endure SD quality video and data throttling unless opting for the most expensive unlimited elite plan.

How did I get this bonus data?
I have the 5 GB data plan. All of a sudden the data widget on my phone is telling me I have 9GB. I checked the my verizon app and the is "4GB/mo for life" is now listed.
Exactly how did I get this? I never got any notice I would be getting this. I'm not complaining but I'm just curious.
Did you make any plan changes ? Don't look a gift horse.
I recently added autopay. Could that be it?
Where do you see it listed? Under plan overview?

I have the same plan and noticed the same thing yesterday. I didn’t make any changes either, I think it was just automatically added.
Other people on reddit with the 8 GB plan are reporting they now have 6 GB extra "for life" no changes made.
Link please. I couldn't find it in a search. I'd like to see what they are saying.
I suspect that since data is cheap for the carriers, it is an incentive to keep existing customers from possibly switching.
They could just lower the price of unlimited to encourage them to switch plans? They certainty aren't offering us unlimited plan customers an inceptives to not switch.

This happened to me on my 15GB(8GB + 7GB for life) plan on verizon prepaid.
I'm supposed to start the month with 15GB. But this month I started with 22GB.
I'm on the 8gb L plan with 2gb bonus and I haven't had a change what gives? Any idea on how to get this, I'd entertain moving down to the 5gb plan with 4gb bonus to save some money every month.

Maybe because you're already getting bonus data.
Good idea. Why not think this a year or so ago when carriers were giving good data to new customers, but unwilling to work with existing customers?
